Ken started his handyman service in the local newspaper and the business grew into the booming business that it is today; Ken's Handyman Express, Inc. Ken partnered with his father John in the beginning of 1981, though Ken's father retired at age 80, whom is now 91 years old. Ken continues to be family owned and operated to this day.
With the opening of the Santa Ana office, Handyman Express enabled itself to serve a much wider area more quickly and efficiently.
Ken found that he needed to expand his base of operations to meet the growing demand for his unique, customized work grew. The volume of work was simply too great for one man to accomplish alone.
The success of Ken's Handyman Express as a business was largely due to his company's ability to deliver on their word. Additionally, Ken's popularity with his customers kept coming back. His clientele regularly gives him referrals to their friends and family. His detail oriented craftsmanship skills, individualized project development, his creativity and artistic design in every area of remodeling are the trademarks of Ken's Handyman Express Inc.
I would like to introduce myself. Hi, my name is Ken. I have been in the construction business for 35 years. When I started out as an apprentice carpenter, I was 17 years old. I joined the Carpenters Union and went to Carpenter Apprenticeship School for 3 1/2 years. I then went out on my own. "Handyman, No Job too Big or Small, Call Ken."
It started out with broken windows, broken doors, then the investors called on me to replace ALL the windows, all the doors, put on a new roof, jack the floors, put the bathtub where the toilet was, put the toilet where the sink was, and so on. I priced the job, turned in my quote and guess what? I got the job! I said to myself, "I need help" so I put a "Help Wanted-All Trades" ad in the paper. Soon after, I had a roofer on the roof, plumber on the plumbing, and window man on the windows, etc. Everything was getting done and since the demand for my services was growing I said to myself, "I'm going home to man the phones, get more jobs lined up and keep these guys busy working."
I stayed in the business throughout my 20's and 30's. The jobs continued to get bigger and bigger. I enjoyed some good times and like any growing business, experienced some challenging times as well. Being in the remodeling business, I learned a lot about the real estate business by dealing with investors, where we would take worst house on the block and make into the nicest house on the block.
Through the years as I was growing older, I had contemplated changing businesses, I finally decided to stay in Remodeling Business, as for when you have a passion for what you do, it's hard to break away. So at age 40 I got my Contractor's License and have been in good standing with the Contractor's Board ever since.
Thanks for getting to know me. I hope I to have the opportunity to get to know you and be at your service for all your construction needs.
